ITINERARY

DAY 01: “ARRIVAL IN CUSCO + CITY TOUR”

tour of the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán
Sacsayhuaman fortress

Upon arrival in the Imperial City, one of our team members will be ready to greet you at the airport or bus terminal. They will carry a sign that displays your name. They will escort you in our tour bus to your reserved hotel, where you can settle in peacefully, rest, and prepare for your city tour.

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up to begin our visit to the main tourist attractions in the Imperial City and its surrounding areas. During this tour, we will explore:

  • Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun): A fundamental religious center in Inca culture, dedicated to the sun god Inti, whose walls still preserve the features of this great civilization.
  • Sacsayhuamán: One of the most important Inca sites in the Cusco region, this fortress stands out with large stone blocks, famous for its megalithic walls and its strategic panoramic views of Cusco.
  • Qenqo: A historic sacred site carved directly into stone, where rituals and religious ceremonies were performed.
  • Pukapukara: An archaeological site presumed to have been a military outpost or resting place, recognized by its reddish walls, which have given it the name "red fortress."
  • Tambomachay: A sacred site dedicated to the worship of water, famous for its fountains and aqueducts that still maintain their flow, a symbol of purification.

Once the guided tour is over, we will return you to your accommodation, where you can relax or, if you wish, continue exploring the city to see other archaeological sites.

On this second day, we will pick you up from your hotel and head to the train station in Ollantaytambo.

From there, we will board the tourist train equipped with large panoramic windows that will allow us to enjoy the views as we travel to the picturesque town of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.

Once in Hot Waters, we will transfer to the tourist bus station to begin the climb up a mountainous road, which takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes, until we reach the sanctuary entrance.

It is important to remember that access to the citadel has a set schedule, so you must carry your ID or passport, along with your entrance ticket, and be prepared in advance for entry.

Upon entering the archaeological site, we will begin a guided tour of approximately two hours, during which we will visit the main attractions of this ancient Inca city, such as:

  • The main viewpoint, which offers picture-postcard views of Machu Picchu.
  • The Temple of the Three Windows is a group of rooms arranged around a square courtyard.
  • The Intihuatana, known as the sundial and ceremonial site, is also a good starting point for viewing the city and taking photo sessions.
  • The Main Plaza, which served as the city's social center and meeting place.
  • And other spaces that showcase the engineering and knowledge of this fascinating civilization.

At the end of the tour, we will return by tourist bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch, to browse the artisan market, or simply to relax.

In the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, from where our transportation will take us back to Cusco. Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel.
